Meeting with RGPBALLS Quality Control Manager: views on the future of manufacturing quality
-
A BRIEF PRESENTATION. WHAT DOES YOUR ROLE CONSIST OF AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING IN THIS POSITION AT RGPBALLS?
“Good morning, I am Andrea Rossi and have been leading the quality control laboratory at RGPBALLS since December 2011.
With a team of eight specialists, we ensure that each product not only meets, but exceeds customer expectations in terms of technical specifications and regulatory compliance.
Our work goes beyond the physical inspection of products; we also do document verification and technical support.”
-
WHAT SPECIFIC INSTRUMENTS ARE USED IN RGPBALLS’ QUALITY CONTROL LABORATORY?
“In our laboratory we use instruments of extreme precision, some of which are capable of measuring to the hundredth of a micron.
These include devices for dimensional, visual and structural inspection, including profilometers and profile projectors for analysing turned parts and ball bearing cases. We also use advanced microscopes to examine the surface of materials and analysers to test chemical composition, ensuring all-round quality control.”
-
HOW DOES A TYPICAL QUALITY CONTROL PROCESS TAKE PLACE IN YOUR IN-HOUSE LABORATORY?
“The process starts with stabilising the temperature of the product and instruments at around 20 degrees, to ensure the accuracy of the measurements.
This is followed by standardised tests and specific tests according to customer requirements, ensuring that each product strictly adheres to the established criteria before shipping.”
-
HAVE THERE BEEN ANY RECENT TECHNOLOGICAL UPDATES OR NEW IMPLEMENTATIONS IN YOUR LABORATORY?
“Recently, we have introduced several new features, including a profile projector and a load-bearing ball press that allows us to test load capacity in both static and dynamic conditions.
These implementations reflect our philosophy of never remaining static, continuously improving our capabilities to provide customers with state-of-the-art services.”
-
HOW DO YOU ENSURE THE CONTINUOUS TRAINING OF QUALITY CONTROL PERSONNEL?
“Ongoing training is a pillar of our department.
In addition to internal courses, our staff regularly participates in external courses, such as the metallography course we recently organised.
This commitment to training ensures that our team is always up-to-date on the latest technologies and best practices in the industry.”
-
HOW DOES QUALITY CONTROL AFFECT RGPBALLS’ REPUTATION AND COMPETITIVENESS IN THE MARKET?
“Quality control is crucial to our reputation and competitiveness.
A product that does not pass our strict control is never sent to the customer. This steadfastness in maintaining high standards is why our customers continue to trust us and prefer us to our competitors, aware of our reliability and commitment to excellence.”
